January 20th. Our first PUBLIC MEETING of 2012. Please publicize this amongst your friends and attend if you can. It is at 7.30 p.m. in the Picton Centre, Haverfordwest (to the left of County Hall). Look at the flyer in the Downloads section of this site.
December 19th. Health Board announce their "listening exercise". Documents made public outlining the issues and options. Read more about this here.
December 14th. Winter cuts or Permanent cuts? From April 2012 the Health Board plans to continue with the bed cuts started before Christmas. What is happening in Carmarthen? Are their beds increasing to take up the slack? We have a right to know, because if they are, this would be centralization by the back door - before our public have even been presented with options for change. Read more about this here.
November 30th. Publicity about a new series of bed cuts and re-allocations, starting tomorrow. Are these "operational" changes as claimed by the Health Board, so not subject to consultation, or are they "significant" ones, in which case they are. Have a look at the facts here.
November 24th has been and gone. As we have come to expect, further deferment. A statement was issued, and there is continuation of the so-called "engagement" process till well into the New Year. Meanwhile changes are actually taking place - though supposedly they are yet to be discussed with the public. For more detail, click here.
Yet more delay in announcements! till December ... or sometime in 2012? See latest information.
November 24th. Date of the next Health Board public meeting. They have stated that they expect a public consultation to commence soon afterwards.
October 5th. SWAT understands that the Health Board has now submitted its proposals to the Welsh Assembly - probably on Monday October 3rd. Most people remain in the dark about exactly what these proposals are.
September 28th. There has been another Health debate in the Welsh Assembly. Further details.
September 21st. Health Minister announces a new "National Clinical Forum". This is to be composed of medical and other experts to oversee the various local plans. SWAT views this with scepticism - it will cause more delay and uncertainty with risk of further loss of services by default, and such bodies are notorious for being short on experience with rural hospital practice. So they come up with counsels of perfection that are impossible to fulfil in a rural setting, and can actually be dangerous. See further details here.
September 17th. Still no announcements. SWAT believes that announcements may be deferred even beyond the end of September, and that the Health Board may try to avoid a public consultation (that is possible under the Welsh Assembly rules). For more detail click here.
August 24th. The Health Minister Leslie Griffiths has turned down a request from SWAT for a meeting. We have legitimate issues to put to her so this won't be the last you hear of it. You can find her letter here.
August 16th-18th. We've had a successful 3 days at the show having discovered a huge depth of feeling not only among the locals but also in visitors to the area. See our Blog.
16th-18th August. County Show. Visit our stand in the Pavilion, Withybush Showground. On those dates you can text us on 07932380684.
9/8/11. We now understand that the Health Board meetings will be even later than originally planned and that as a result we are unlikely to get any decision from the Welsh Assembly until the end of September. Therefore the consultation period is unlikely to start before October.
